Ashleigh on Health

Health is not just about preventing disease and living a longer and more vital life. Health is one of the gateways to our personal freedom. Without optimum health, we cannot experience love, joy and prosperity to its fullest. Good health gives us that extra freedom and energy to embrace all that life has to offer.

Wellness comprises physical, mental and emotional aspects of health and it is not about being the thinnest, fittest and happiest person on the block. It is more about being the best you that you can be, given your strengths and your limitations. Getting well requires adjusting your lifestyle, which requires commitment and change. 

Meet Ashleigh

Ashleigh Caradas holds a bachelor’s degree in Science from the University of the Witwatersrand and a Medical honours degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Cape Town. She has been in private practice as a Nutritionist and Dietician since 2000. Ashleigh is also a freelance health journalist and her articles have appeared in Longevity, Me!, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, Shape and Essentials magazines. She writes regular features and columns for Living and Loving Magazine and the Business Day Health News (a supplement to the Business Day Financial Mail). She is also the new wellness editor at joburg.co.za. Ashleigh writes articles on yoga, spirituality and sustainable living for Complete Yoga and Renaissance Magazine.   Ashleigh has a nutrition practice in Illovo, Johannesburg and gives regular talks and workshops in the corporate environment.

Ashleigh created HealthGuru in 2009.
